Not sure what happened but now Plex can no longer play my music.
When I attempt any track i get “Playback Error
Please check that the file exists and the necessary drive is mounted.”
Also I can no longer update the library - it just spools for like 3 seconds and stops.
I’ve been tinkering with things for like 2 hours now and about to lose my mind.
Please help and thanks!
Did you already have a look at your server logs to check for any obvious error messages?
I take it the Plex system account on your Syno still has permissions to see those files?
Hopefully I uploaded this ok. I really don’t know what to even look for.
Sorry for the delay, work keeps me from having much free time for my hobbies!
Thanks much for the help
Your logs say that Plex doesn’t have permission to read the Music folder (/volume1/Media/Music/).
Can you confirm the system user PlexMediaServer has access to that share?
I’ve surely tried to address this. In Synology I do control panel>shared folders>edit>permissions
I see “homes” (idk what that is), “media”, “plex”, “plexserver”
for each of these in the plex row I have “read/write” checked
in some cases the “group permissions” column says “read/write” but in no case is it in the “plex” row. to repeat though the checkbox for the “read/write” column is selected
Have you confirmed this is actually the PlexMediaServer user and not the old one from DSM6 (plex)? Just asking because you specifically mentioned the plex row.
