2nd ATV 3 until not receiving TV/Movie artwork from Plex Server

On going Issue

 

Guys I have tried a 2nd at3 and just set-up plex connect using terminal and it worked, for the most part, however the icons for movies are not displayed on the atv3. All my libraries and content are there with the tv/movie names but no (artwork) preview icon (meta data for description is there). See below pics.

Any advice on how I can solve this issue. I'm just wondering if there are some issues with the asset/templates xml scripts?

 

 

There must be a solution.

My Environment

  • ATV 3 Firmware 5.2.1
  • The DNS server set on the ATV (found under the ATV settings > general > network > DNS): 192.168.1.105.
  • The device and operating system (including version number) that PlexConnect is installed on: Is this not the same as the PMS?
  • The local IP address of the device that PlexConnect is installed on: 192.168.1.105.
  • The device and operating system (including version number) that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on: Mac Mini 10.8.4
  • The Plex media server (PMS) version number you are running (**do not put 'latest'**): 0.9.7.28.33
  • The local IP address of the device that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on: 192.168.1.105.

Thumbnails are pulled in directly from PMS...

are you able to actually watch your media?

I agree with Baa that this seems to be a PMS issue. Try upgrading PMS to the latest public release, 9.8.4. There is a link to it on elan’s blog if it doesn’t show in PMS software update. Also, you wrote down that you are using ATV firmware 5.2.1, if so, update to 5.3.

Finally, this post is not really any different than your other post on this topic and I fear everyone is just going to repeat the same troubleshooting steps that you went through there:

Looking at the images I had a thought. This is probably not the problem but try renaming your libraries that include the hyphens. Remove the hyphens and see if that changes anything.

Yes I can watch everything without issues

Guys can I ask is this problem likely to be resolved or should I replace the ATV with a Mac Mini?

Yes  I did - no luck.

I deleted my PMS altogether lastnight

Cleaned up my Movies and TV Hard drives by Reducing the number of Folders

Downloaded the latest PMS and re-installed re mapped/scanned everything

Downloaded the latest version of Plex Connect 10 mins ago

Mac Plex Client shows all artwork beautifully, so does ios client.

The same issue remains - no artwork on ATV3, all plays fine.

Institute 11 what could it be???

Sorry, but I have no idea. You are the only one I know of with this issue.

Do the following... set loglevel to High, create a log of 2 or 3 screens with missing thumbnails.

Open the log in a texteditor, find those aTV-XMLs and look for the address of the thumbs - should be in the tags, I guess.

Copy a couple of those addresses to a browser on your local machine - does it show the pictures?

I solved it by factory osx restore. Reloaded everything and it works fine.

A bit extreme and mysterious but I am glad it was solved.
