3 Issues and 3 Temp Solutions (Android TV/NVIDIA Shield)

Server Version#: 1.24.3.5033
Player Version#: 8.28.0.30077 (241173d0)

I have Plex on Nvidia Shield TV Pro. I do not think the issues I am having are related to the Android 11 update but rather to the app itself. I have seen a few others with same issues on android based devices.

Issue #1: If I fast forward the video a lot, audio and video goes off sync.
Temp Solution: I disabled Audio Passthrough in Plex setting. Doing so rectified the issue, no more sync issues.

Issue #2: When playing a video, sometimes, the audio stream starts normally, but the video stream shows a frozen still of the video (approx from ~3-5s mark) and stays that way until the audio stream reaches the same point, only then the video stream starts playing together with audio.
Temp Solution: Stopping and starting the video fixes it. Fast forwarding or rewinding also fixes it.

Issue #3: Starting playback can sometimes, cause and infinite loading circle.
Temp Solution: If I back out and play it again then it starts playing instantly, sometimes takes a few attempts.

Just hoping that the dev team knows of the issues and is working on the fix. Not sure what is happening over at Plex HQ, lots of issues with recent updates across all platforms.

Don’t know about you, but this is turning me away from Plex after all these years. I guess, all good things come to an end at some point.

There were a few other issues after the Android 11 update, but they were fixed after I factory reset the device. A lot of issues in general got fixed after the factory reset, not just Plex.

P.S. The reason my server is on version 1.24 is because 1.25 break browser playback for some videos. Updating did not solve the Android issues.

having same issue

Same issue here…really pissing off my spousal unit

I factory reset both my Nvidia Shields and that seemed to resolve my issues.
