It seems that the latest app version does not play well with the latest Shield TV upgrade. Although it has become apparent in the latest update it seems to be related to both the Plex app and the Shield TV Upgrade.
Dirty fix: unistall all updates on the app and revert to stock. You can play all media files again.
Thanks for the above and the link to the nightly apk version. I have sideloaded this and tested it but I am still getting the same issue as before with this version.
I have now got the hotfix provided by nvidia ready to install, so will try the hotfix alongside the stable apk. If that doesn’t work then I will try the nightly apk and advise back.
I tested both the nightly and the stock latest version on the new hotfix 2 provided by Nvidia.
Neither app was playing the media content. I did some diggin in the plex app settings for both apks and found that the issue lay with the audio passthrough to my equipment.
When I disabled the HDMI audio pass through in the advanced settings both apks versions now play the media content as expected.
It may be worth noting that the error message “An error occured while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again.” is very vague and unless I had noted that the audio passthrough might be the issue I would not of found this.
Might be worth adding a bespoke error message if audio passthrough is enabled that advises customers to try disabling this if they experience issues.
