Server Version#: 1.20.2.3402
Plex Web Version 4.34.4
Samsung Plex Version: 5.1.3
Platform Version : 5
Hello, I have a problem with my new Samsung TV (2020) and the Plex Player.
It works so far but I have the problem that I have older programs from 1978 or 1990 that I no longer have a 16: 9 format on the device. Nothing was changed on the Plex Media Server. I have previously had a Samsung SmartTV where this could be changed using the green button, but apparently this is no longer possible. Is there a solution for this? with the newer broadcasts you can see everything normally in 1080 P and 4 K. But the problems arise with older series, for example. I have included a screenshot.
My Plex server is running on an Ubuntu 20.04 LTS server.
If you want to add log files then I should know from which log file you need what.
Oh, by the way, it makes no difference whether I use the Early Access version or the last public version on the Samsung TV.
I have a problem too with Plex resizing non standard 16:9 movies or TV shows. it’s like Plex won’t allow black bars on top or bottom, so the image is stretching to cover all the screen. On Samsung Tizen, we can’t change settings for picture size , it is grayed out.
I tested with Plex web in the Tizen browser and the picture size is displayed as it should…
I don’t think I understand. You want your letterbox shows stretched? If it’s a transcode thing, your included photo says that direct play was user disabled, so you should check your server settings.
Yes, it doesn’t matter whether direct play is on or off. I’ve already tested that. The server settings are also not because it works on my old Samsung TV that doesn’t have Tizen OS. He still has the old remote control where you have the buttons A = red, B = green, C = yellow and D = blue. When I pressed the green button there came a menu where I could resize. Now I have a similar button combination via Tizen OS but unfortunately nothing happens within Plex - no menu comes up regardless of whether I press A, B, C or D.
Unfortunately, I can’t say whether it’s the device or the Plex, but I haven’t installed any new server software on the Plex. And as already mentioned, it makes no difference whether I go to the public version or switch to the test version - it makes no difference. I have set in the menu of the TV that it should resize 4: 3 to 16: 9 but this function is grayed out when I am in the Plex so that it is not supported.
Therefore I would be very grateful about help in this regard.
Same issue, had this option on older Samsung TVs (multiple) with Plex, but functionally to stretch image (mainly I want to do this for my old 4:3 tv shows) seems to be removed. No menu option, and green (B) button on controller does nothing. Replying now to see if any more recent solutions…watching holiday movies like Rudolph on just part of my screen tonight .
I would like to know whether there is now a workaround or whether a fix is being worked on here? Because the problem still exists and slowly I find it very unpleasant when I see that this problem was posted by me 2 months ago and so far I have not seen that it was solved by PLEX. The latest client 5.6.1 is running on my TV set. When do you think about the problem of what to do, dear DEVS?
