Something strange is happening on my new chromecast/server and I’m not sure what.
Last week my housemate bought one of the new chromecasts and installed Plex, I asked him to try the Mulan I’d recently downloaded in 4K HDR and it direct played locally perfectly.
I have since bought a chromecast for google tv and tried playing Mulan on mine but it doesn’t work, I have the loading circle as though it is constantly trying to buffer, it also never shows up in my now playing on my dashboard. I thought maybe there is an issue with the server so I go ask him again and it works fine for him.
It also works on a LG 4K HDR TV played remotely but failed on another TV with Chromecast for Google TV remotely.
These are identical chromecast for for google tv, connected over the same wifi network to the same server yet one will work and the other will not. I have no idea what is going on here.
PMS is on latest update and as far as I can tell the chromecasts are running the same builds.
The only thing I can think of is that my TV is not HDR while his is, would this throw a spanner in the works regarding this? If so can some settings be altered to alleviate this or is it a case of you can’t watch any HDR on a non HDR TV?
The logs for yesterday (19/10/2020) should show an attempt at playing it remotely in the afternoon, followed by several attempts at local play in the evening. There is a resume play and a play from beginning on the device it worked on, the rest of the attempts locally are failed plays by myself.
Many thanks, for your assistance.
