No fix in today’s update. This sucks.

Also have a few nice movies that I want to watch in 4k but no luck yet
If your guy’s media server is as close as mine is to the tv just cast it for now etc.
Damn… I just bought a new I7-8700 (I7 Recommended by Plex for 4K) because I was thinking my CPU was not powerful enough and it still not working…
When we will have a solution?
Cast it to the TV Directly? Or do you mean cast it through plex as that is the same as opening the plex app on the xbox and then watching the movie, right?
My TV is in the one room and just on the other side of the wall is a PC. So connected HDMI but sound didn’t work. Had to remove the drivers (nvidia) in safe mode and installed it again. Working fine now but still prefer to use plex haha… Will most likely watch a few NB titles this way until Plex is sorted one day.
@joey055 - I almost upgraded my CPU (which meant a new board, cpu and ram now) and luckily I found out this MIGHT resolve the issue or might not and its not due to my PC being slow. So now just sitting around waiting. VLC Would have worked as they have an app on Xbone but they also have an issue playing 4k stuff. There’s no image hahahhaa
In Windows 10 “casting” is built in using MIracast/WiFi Direct/DLNA devices. So right click on said file/movie and there’s an option “cast to device” and then a list of devices. I can cast directly to my Samsung or Xbox One X etc.
(Media server is an Intel NUC Intel Core i7-7567U Processor, 16GB ram, plays flawless 4K)
Will test this out tomorrow
This issue is REALLY bugging me the problem is over 6 months old, I probably got maybe a month or two of 4k HDR working correctly and it has been broke ever since.
I wish someone at MS and Plex would just sit down and fix the dang problem
Just to give you an update, we’re currently internally testing an update that contains some changes that should help some (hopefully all
) of those affected by this issue. I will let you know when the update lands.
Now we talking @Moussa
As an Heavy Xbox Plex user this is music to my ears,
How is the success rate on your internal testing.
How long does it take to push out an update on the xbox store?
@Moussa Regarding this update you are testing, will it require a specific version of the XBOX platform software or is it a Plex update that is independent of the XBOX software?
It has been very successful in my testing, on the few videos I can reproduce the issue with. So I’m interested to see your experiences.
@TheRealDeria It’s a Plex title update, no Xbox OS update required.
That’s brilliant news,
Well fingers crossed you get to push out plex update, …
Looking forward to watching some UHd
+1 yea me as well
yes hopefully all resolved soon… no xbox update, even better. when is it due to be released? @Moussa
If no showstoppers come up this Tuesday or Wednesday.
Out of curiosity, is the “Platform issue” still present in the current Xbox OS? If that’s the case, is this Plex title update more of a workaround? Any downside to that? Are Microsoft still working on a fix on their end? Lastly, if Microsoft do implement a fix is that likely to impact this workaround?
Good question. The platform issue is still present, and we’re still working with Microsoft to understand the core issue. However we made some changes to use a different player stack for 4K direct streaming playback, and this avoids the buffering issue. We don’t anticipate any downsides to this change, but we are testing it. A potential future Microsoft platform update for the issue is not expected to have negative consequences.
Great to hear. Thanks for your work @Moussa , I know this is a thankless job most of the time but I for one appreciate you getting this done.
Xbox One has always been, in my Plex experience at least, the only platform they are on where communication is done professionally. First it was Dom C, then Moussa stepped up to keep us sane.
Xbox One is my main client now, and it’s great - so thank you. Between that and the iOS client I am well served now, no complaints!
My complaints now are with PMS and that instead of making that the best it can be at the core mission they keep wasting their time on nonsense side projects that very few people actually wanted.
