4k Playback issues on Samsung Smart TVs

Server Version#:1.15.1.710-ece95b3a1
Player Version#: 3.90.2 (Tizen 4.0)

I had some issues on my Samsung Smart TV (NU7179) when playing 4k mkv files. When I stopped the playback and wanted to continue it later, I was unable to resume the playback. I also could not fast forward, rewind or skip chapters. When I pushed the info button these files always showed me that the audio codec was truehd, even if i choosed another audio track. So i remuxed the mkv files and deleted the truehd audio track that was in them. And tadaa it now works corectly. So I think, I should let you know that there is an issue with trueHD Atmos Audio tracks in mkv files when playing them on Samsung Smart TVs. hope this helps.

When you were playing the video before remuxing, what tracks were on the video, and which one did you select for playback? Was the video transcoding or direct playing when you had another audio track selected? When you remuxed, did you only delete the truehd track or did you convert/add other tracks?

Thanks

on the video where 2 ac3 5.1 tracks german and english and a truehd track in english. i selected the german ac3 5.1 track for playback. the video was direct playing when i had ac3 5.1 selected. I deleted the truehd track and did not do anything else, when I remuxed.

And I noticed something else before remuxing the video I was able to resume playback, when I selected the truehd audiotrack.

this may or may not help explain why truehd/atmos is not working @ Plex, 4k, transcoding, and you - aka the rules of 4k - a FAQ

It would be interesting if the issue I described above would also appear on videos with 1080p solution, which have a Dolby TrueHD/Atmos audio track. Maybe this did not occur often because 1080p material does not really often bring Dolby TrueHD/Atmos with it.
