Anytime I try to streak 4k to the plex app on the samsung tv it keeps buffering. I noticed on my plex client it maxes out at ~28mbps. Is this a tv limitation? (tv is plugged into the ethernet directly into the same router so it’s not a bandwidth limitation and there’s no transcoding that occurs since the file format is supported)
When I stream the same 4k file to my laptop’s client it does it at the ful 45mbps with no issues at all.
Do you know what the speed of the network connection on your Samsung is? It could possibly be that the TV just doesn’t have enough CPU to process the stream.
Things to check on your server.
When you stream to the TV is it direct playing or remux/transcoding?
Same question as above when you stream to your laptop.
If one is direct playing and the other is transcoding you have probably found the culprit.
@mtvanc
You can tell if it’s transcoding by playing the video an look at status in PMS…
Hover over the image.
It will tell you if it is transcoding or not.
You using the Samsung Plex App?
Is the quality set to original??
LOL Like @spikemixture mentioned… You might need to get a smaller TV…
haha thanks guys, i’ll look into it. i actually really like the curved but you need to invest in a good curved whereas the lower ones had really bad glare.
i definitely notice extra depth and it doesn’t impact seating location as much as i expected it to
I was torn with my last purchase and had it narrowed down to Samsung curved or Samsung Flat. I opted for the 75" flat. In the store when sitting off to the side a bit (couch to TV angle) it seemed like I was missing something on the curved display.
With my flashlight test (wide beam lantern like) off to the side the curved models had a lot more glare redirected back to the front of the screen as well compared to the flat screens. I took the lantern to the store to test this since I’ve got a big bay window (under a porch awning) about 15 feet from my living room TV.
Had I been purchasing for my basement TV I wouldn’t have any type of issues like this and probably would have opted for the curved display.
Oh man.
Interesting! I had not even thought about or considered the logical idea that side lighting on a curved screen would reflect sorta parabolicly to the center as glare.
