For the last 6 months I have been using the new Chromecast with Google TV (the one with the remote). it has been great and provided a better experience than using the UI on my Sony TV’s.
Plex initially worked perfectly with no issue playing all movies/shows in their native video and audio qualities.
But for whatever reason, in the last week, some of my movies and shows will only play in 2ch stereo despite them having 5.1 (or 7.1) channels (and playing perfectly before). I cannot figure out why…? Nothing has changed in the settings, and no hardware changes.
My Chromecast is plugged straight into my home theater AVR via HDMI and like I said, up until a week or so ago, I had no issues playing these movies/shows in 5.1/7.1.
I have re-downloaded some of these titles to see if it was a compatibility issue with certain codecs etc perhaps after an update with Plex or something, but still no joy. Its as if Plex is forcing, regardless of file (size/codec etc), certain titles to play in 2ch only. Its doing my head in because it worked so well before and my home theatre setup was running sweet, but now I’m back to stereo for some of our favorite shows.
Any help would be much appreciated.
