One of the things I love about Plex is its ability to work with Chromecast. Recently however I’ve been having issues with my latest downloads, which are all TV shows, where the audio is quite a bit out of sync with the video. It’s really odd because it doesn’t seem to occur with my latest movie downloads, and the rest of my library is fine, at least it appears to be fine from the spot checks I’ve carried out on old TV shows and recent movies.
My current setup is as follows:
Plex Media Server 1.4.2.3400
Latest Plex client (iPhone and iPad)
Chromecast v2
Airport Express / Extreme
All movie / TV shows are in .mkv
I’ve tried the following to improve playback via Chromecast but this hasn’t worked
- Reducing playback quality on the Plex client
- Switching from wifi 5ghz to 2.4ghz and back on Chromecast
- Selecting 50hz HDI mode and back on Chromecast
- Factory restore of Chromecast
Playback of these new shows works perfectly when viewed directly on my iPhone / iPad or via Plex Media Player connected directly to my other TV. It just doesn’t work for these new TV shows only when used with Chromecast.
