720kbps bandwidth limit? Why?

Server Version#: 1.20.3.3483

I have a PMS that has worked fine (simple server going through router with default ports). After the update to 1.20.3.3483 I’m getting the following message on all remote devices:

“Could not direct play because: Not enough bandwidth for direct play of this item. Required bandwidth is 13318kbps and only 8000kbps is available. Could not transcode becasue: Not enough CPU for conversion of this item.”

I have “Disable video stream transcoding” turned off.

When I look in my logs, I see:

Oct 22, 2020 20:56:59.047 [0xa25f7430] DEBUG - [Transcode] Streaming Resource: Calculated bandwidth of 13318kbps exceeds bandwidth limit. Changing decision parameters provided by client to fit bandwidth limit of 720kbps

I have fibre and I’ve set my max upload explicitly to 770mbps. I’ve reinstalled, restarted, everything and I can’t figure out why the computer things I’m on dial-up.

I also have a PMS running on the same version on an RPi4 and I get the same error message. Somehow the 720kbps is being detected or set on both my Windows and RPi servers.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Go to your quality settings in the player app and change it to maximum.

So I had stream transcoding disabled on one of the servers but not the other.

When the transcoding is disabled I get the 720kbps max error on the iPhone or AppleTV via remote connection. I cannot change the video quality on the client as it doesn’t even play.

When enable video stream transcoding then I can select original quality (say 9.2mbps) but the video still plays at low quality.

This is on i5-8500, Win 10 Pro, 32GB RAM nothing else running.

What is the default quality settings in whatever Player app you are using. Like this is the Web players quality settings.
