A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server

Im trying to install a new plex server on my mac. When the Server setup wizzard starts I get the following error: “A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server.”

Ive checked the following:

  1. Mac firewall is turned off
  2. Port 32400 is NAT’d on the firewall (UPNP did it before as well).
  3. I checked full disk permissions on system settings for the plex app.

Looking at the logs, it looks there are a lot of 404 errors, not sure however what its not finding. If I go to plex.tv and then try access the library without completing the wizzard it says that it cant connect securely to the server (with my Mac’s name as the Plex server name as well).

Did some additional tinkering. Seems like an old server is somehow somewhere stuck.

When I try to access http://localhost:32400/web or http://127.0.0.1:32400/web it says that I dont have secure access to my server, but it shouldn’t exist yet, Ive removed all server devices from the Authorized devices page.

There is no server section where I can change the way I connect. All I have option to do is remove the server. When I restart plex then I get a “Not authorized. You do not have access to this server” page.

Really have no idea what to do. I reverted my TP-Links UPnP settings away from the static defined NAT’s, no change. I definitely have no VPN or endpoint security running.

Reinstalled Mac OS and it seems to work now. Must have been a permissions error of sorts i guess.
