Windows 10, premium lifetime member, downloaded latest media server for windows 10, logged into my account using chrome, tried to launch, can’t find server. Latest server is installed and running. WTF ?? uninstalled and reinstalled a dozen times, uninstalled and cleaned up file remnants and registry remnants and appdata remnants … reinstalled, still doesn’t work. added plex media server to windows defender firewall for both private and public, still doesn’t work. rebooted, reinstalled several times already.
This is a simple windows 10 installation, why doesn’t it work ??
Only oddity is that previously I had plex media server installed on this computer using a friend’s account. all that has been uninstalled and wiped out. it worked for his account, doesn’t work for mine. WTF ??? I just paid 119 dollars for a premium account, why doesn’t it work ?
When you bought the Plex Pass, you created a new account, instead of buying the pass for your existing account.
Now, your web browser and your Plex server are using different accounts, which means they are not allowed to see each other.
I only have one Plex account and I have had a lifetime Plex Pass for several years now. I have not made any changes to my account recently yet after the last PMS upgrade, when I try to access my PMS from my desktop (which has always worked before) it just continually says “looking for servers…” and never finds mine. Now mind you, I am opening Plex from the PMS icon in my notification area (lower rt corner of screen) I am also able to access my PMS from all of my streaming devices so I know it is working, I just can’t access it from my desktop via a browser like I used to be able to do. Please advise, thanks!
UPDATE
