AAC Audio Skipping on Roku Ultra

Hi all,

I’m having an issue when direct playing any AAC 2.0 stereo streams on my Roku Ultra, the audio will ​skip every 10 seconds.

Have tested with AAC mono and 5.1 channel content and those are all good. It’s weird that it’s only happening with AAC stereo.

I updated the Roku OS to v10.0 today but it’s still happening. Anyone else having this issue?

The ‘Preview’ app has a fix:

The Preview app is a ‘Private Channel’, not found in the guide, but easily installed via the link above. It can run along with the ‘Official’ Plex app.

Just wanted to note that I had the same issue and the app from the preview channel fixed it as well.

That definitely solved the issue for me. However if I play E-AC3 I have the same issue, but a workaround for that is to set audio to stereo. It would be nice to find a workaround for that though.

@JuiceWSA like @Fryer6900 said above, stuttering is now happening when direct playing AC3/eAC3 (Dolby) stereo streams too.

Have you had any reports of this and any chance of a direct stream workaround for this too? I don’t get why Roku 10 doesn’t play nicely with stereo only.

All I know is unless you have a Roku Ultra 4640 - EAC3 can only be shuffled off to something that can support it. No current Roku Model supports EAC3. <—and if you guess the community isn’t all that happy about it - you’d guess right. A Google will reveal Roku Inc Forums (if you can call what they have a forum) alight with that news, but it’s been some time ago now.

All I have is AC3 5.1/2.0 and I have no issues whatsoever on the current Preview app. I don’t have any EAC3, so I’m not much help on that.

All of my material is in Direct Play.
(or a remux for ASS subs)
No audio issues to report here.

I don’t have any issues whatsoever if you do what I said above with the preview.

I’m starting to get brief audio pauses again with aac did something change recently?
