When creating a new download for a TV series, I pick “Next 3” episodes and “Delete after 1 day” and save. Download activity starts and says “1 of 3” (this particular series only has 6 unwatched episodes on the server). Upon completing 1, it now says “2 of 4”, and then “3 of 5” and so on seeming to never end downloading. Sync to older Windows store app and iOS apps works fine from this server.
This show in question has 3 seasons on my server. Season 1 is completely watched, Season 2 has 2 unwatchaed, and Season 3 has 4. If I poke into the Sync directory and look about, I see that I have:
1\2<Show Name>\Season01 -> Containing all 6 episodes of season one even though they’re watched
1\2<Show Name>\Season02 -> Containing all 10 episodes of season two even though only the last two are unwatched
1\2<Show Name>\Season03 ->
1\4 (empty)
1\5 (empty)
1\6 (empty)
1\Metadata\TV Shows\0<Some UUID looking directory name>\uploads…
First off, without having gone in and manual created a junction for the Sync directory to move it two a thumb drive, this would have blown away the free space on my Surface Book’s main drive. I cannot imagine how this was released without at least the rudimentary ability to move where files are synced as mobile devices/laptops are the quintessential target platform for this feature.
Secondly, is this really how Syn…er…Download is supposed to work? The old sync I could set the limit on episodes and to only download unwatched and it did just that. Downloaded up to that number of unwatched episodes and stopped. Even if after a day it deletes all the ones that have been watched, this is crazy. What happens if I try to sync a show that has even more back seasons with even higher episode counts? Or am I supposed to just “download” individual seasons/episodes because that would really break a basic functionality I use every day.
If this is a bug, I can provide the Player-side client and server logs and the Qnap-side server logs privately upon request. Too much personal data in there to try and redact and attach directly.
