I would like to see an option to lock all fields in a library, after updating the metadata to our liking, with just one switch. This would include locking posters and other items not currently lockable (I know that is addressed in other requests).
Doubt this will ever come, the devs are too confident in Plex always working as it should.
Just look at this thread and marvel at the amount of "should"s, "bug"s and “send a log if that happens”.
Dear Plex devs: if you fix your software like you try to instill customer confidence then I think I know how Plex messes up data.
All it takes is for an agent or scanner to work wonky to mess stuff up. Software that isn’t even under your control, yet for a lot of stuff we rely on these plug-ins, because stuff like absolute episode numbering, specialties around certain genres or media kinds that aren’t Western hemisphere productions (like anime) and preferences on metadata that differ from yours force us to use these plugins. So if you’re not gonna make certain stuff work out of the box and have people use other means at least provide support around them in terms of providing workarounds for OBVIOUSLY needed functionality.
No matter how often you tell me something SHOULD work is going to alter the behavior that I am most certainly experiencing.
What an incredibly sad and frustrating situation. To read that competitors have long figured it out makes me question my Lifetime Pass purchase…
