As an admin, I should be able to curate my library, no matter what device I’m using: iPhone, Apple TV, web, etc.
This means adding functionality that allows me to assign one or more collections to any given movie, TV show, etc.

I suppose you’re referring to assigning/changing genres to an item?
There’s already an existing suggestion discussing an option to allow some/all admin tasks to be performed on the mobile clients.
I’m wondering if exposing all that complexity on the big screen apps will actually explode the UI / kill the user experience.
Nope, I’m referring specifically to the ability to assign values in the Collection field of each record. Genre is a different field.
For example, I often create topic-related collections for movies, such as “American Civil War” or “Italian Neo-realism”. Later when I’m out in the world and viewing my library remotely with the iOS or AppleTV client, I often see updates I would like to make to a particular movie’s Collection field so that it is grouped appropriately in the Collections page of that library. But this is currently only possible when accessing the application via the web.
This could be as simple as having a “Add to Collection” option alongside the press-and-hold menu options like “More Info” or “Mark as Watched” or “Remove from Continue Watching”, etc
I’m lost… are you referring to some existing field you want to be able to change from all those clients or is this an entirely new tag?
Please verify the term “Category”.
It doesn’t exist in Plex when using an English user interface.
Sorry, not “Category”, “Collection”. Not Categories, Collections.
I’ve updated my posts to correct my mistake. I had been using the term “category” but what I intended to say was “collection”.
Thanks for clarifying. There’s already an existing suggestion discussing such an option. I suggest you comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes.
Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.
Will do, thanks. How many votes does a suggestion need before it gets traction? I imagine that for a community of users who choose Plex for curating large media libraries, this kind of functionality would be a) a huge asset and b) not a major feature to implement.

Voting
Feature request voting provides us with a guide to help plan and prioritize development. As there are a variety of factors that go into this, we can’t guarantee a feature request will get implemented based on votes and posts alone.
The most voted feature requests don’t automatically “win” or guarantee they will be implemented. If something is just never going to happen (like ISO support) we will let you know. There are other considerations outside of these forum feature requests that are taken into account.
