As a lifetime member that lives in the Tampa Florida area (the lightning capitol of the USA) I loose internet service a lot more than I loose power, but when service is interrupted I can not access my Plex server (on same network) both TV’s have Plex installed and work incredibly well WHEN I’m connected to the net, but not when I loose that net connection.
Mind you I know I can go sit at the PC and watch the movie/show there but would prefer to stream it to my 65-inch in the living room where its easier to relax while watching.
I wouldn’t mind if I only had use of basic server till the internet is back, maybe a “Use LAN” switch could be added or some such thing for lifetime members (also another good perk to get others to join).
I’m very surprised this feature request doesn’t have more votes. I’m aware that plex members are able to setup offline play with plex currently, but it takes a bit of configuring, and it doesn’t work on all devices. For example my Roku 3 loses the ability to access plex offline when the internet goes out, but my PC is still able to. Also if you have the family users setup on your plex account (multiple users for plex under one main plex account) the offline viewing feature doesn’t work on any device.
A request for the same feature exists already, and it has more votes.
Therefore this one is closed, to prevent spreading the votes across several threads, even though they vote for the same (or at least very similar thing).
