Fairly new Plex user running the latest build ( Version 1.18.4.2171 ) on a dedicated Ubuntu 18.04 server. For Live TV, going OTA antenna with a SiliconDust HDHomerun Connect Quatro tuner.
When using a web client, there’s a thumbnail video playback while browsing the program guide. However, when I use a Fire TV stick, there does not appear to be such an option.
If I’m missing a setting somewhere I’d appreciate being set straight. 
Otherwise, could I put in a feature request for this? The way I’ve seen Spectrum and U-Verse do this is a very nice feature.
That’s called picture in picture. The older Fire TV sticks do not support this and probably never will. The 4K Fire stick can do this.

That makes sense. I should have mentioned that I am using a Fire TV stick that is the latest generation (purchased in December).
So is there a toggle I’m missing somewhere? Fwiw, my tv is only HD, not 4k.
Only the fire stick 4k has this. The device needs a specific os version which only the 4k has right now, maybe the cube 2, i haven’t checked. You don’t need a 4k tv to use the 4k stick. I have one on a 720p tv for testing purposes and it works fine.

So my 4k fire stick reports the following:
Software Version: Fire OS 6.2.6.8 (NS6278/2315)
Fire TV Home Version:. 6200198.1
Plex App Version:. 7.25.2.14287
Ok so I have an update: by clearing the app data and cache, I now have the ability to cursor down during playback and have a guide pop up over the video:
I’m still hoping I am missing something that would allow a more “traditional” PIP guide… But this is a step in the right direction.
Huh. That doesn’t look right. I’ll have to double check, but it should drop the picture into a small box in the corner with the guide at full screen.

I was wrong about Plex app on the Fire TV 4K supporting PIP. It’s not supported. What you are seeing is not being cause by Plex.
Thanks for the update. Is this something that might be supported in the future? What devices support it right now, or can you point me towards a client feature matrix?

There is an issue with the Fire OS that is preventing this. Regular Android TV devices support PIP.
Respectfully, I’ll submit that the Pluto app for the Fire TV Stick has exactly this interface… It looks exactly like this:.

This has existed since the late 90s and should have been a day 1 feature.
Please can we have this across as many clients as possible?
I/my family use Apple TV, PC/web, LG TV, Samsung TV and Hisense TV.
