I now have found success also. I went into my plex library (pms) on the pc.
sorted each folder from within pms that I have shared on my network, how I prefer.
went back to each nvidia shield and now the sort by feature has reappeared.
allowing me to view in the order that works for best for me. or the ability to change the sort on the fly, if needed.
FYI - since the Plex Player client on Android automatically updates to latest version, and I donāt see a way to disable that āfeatureā, I bit the bullet and upgraded PMS to 1.19.3.2852. I had to install a fresh PMS due to jails EOL on FreeNAS. My prior mount points were less than elegant so I scrapped trying to copy metadata from the old PMS. Good news is the the poster updates were relatively quick for the libraries.
Iām still trying to figure out how to remove all references to the old PMS.
But, sorting the Library is back and working as intended on Nvidia Shield. And - the TV Guide also works in this PMS version.
Ouch! Didnāt know you would have to jump through so many hoops to update PMS.
Regarding clients, you can disable auto-update in the Google Play App Store on AndroidTV and mobile devices. It is a global setting for all apps. I donāt know a way to do that on an app by app basis. You can also disable auto-update for FireTV devices. It is somewhere in the FireTV settings. I havenāt used a FireTV in quite some time, so canāt tell you exactly where it is located (probably under Settings ā Apps LOL).
Screenshot from Google Play store settings on my Android phone. Very similar on Android TV.
