Absolute ordering .. how?

Is there some way to get episode summaries for absolute ordered episodes to show up past “season one”? I’ve tried the AbsTVDB and BABS out but I guess it doesn’t work in Plex 0.9.6.7.

There were some Ubuntu repo issues so I just got 9.6.7 this evening. I set up a directory for Stargate Atlantis (which I don't have) in my Test library and copied a few episodes from another series into it as episodes 20-22 (straddling the S1/S2 split). After touching the files so Plex would think they'd changed, I get metadata for episode 20 (last of S1), but nothing for 21 and 22.

This is new behavior. I have Detective Conan episode 503 that I added on 16 Aug that does have metadata. I've looked at the log and see the scanner detects the SG:A episodes. The metadata agent attempts to get metadata. It apparently isn't getting any results.

TVDB is acting flaky for me (generally failing to work). Some investigation reveals that they moved data centers on 23 August. According to the forums (which seem to be working fine), they say they lost free hosting at their old host because they're using 41TB of bandwidth/month. Others are reporting problems accessing the site and the speculation is that there's some routing goof somewhere. Also a note from a couple of hours ago that they're testing networkery so the site will be up and down.

It's possible that something changed in 9.6.7 that has broken AbsTVDB (though the normal TVDB agent's code hasn't changed), but until TVDB is stable again, there's no way to do reliable testing. I'll check again later this week and see if they're normal, meanwhile will be digging out my notes on how I tested before and not adding any more Detective Conan episodes until this is resolved.

UPDATE (a few minutes later):
TVDB is still a bit iffy, but... DUH... SG:A doesn't have absolute numbers set up. I'll try again with Zero no Tsukaima eps 13-15.

And it works.

What series are you having trouble with. Does it have absolute numbers set up for the episodes that are giving you trouble?

Or maybe you're having issues related to the network problems noted above.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help! This is for Naruto which looks to have absolute ordering when I go to thetvdb.com. Do you have a link for the latest AbsTVDB? Maybe the version I found in these forums isn’t the latest. Also, do I even need the BABS thing or only AbsTVDB?

Naruto should have absolute ordering. I have it. :)

You need BABS to scan absolute ordered files properly (Plex doesn't do that out of the box) and AbsTVDB to find files by absolute order (in addition to all the normal means). They're a matched set.

I only post BABS and AbsTVDB here in the forums. Links...
BABS: http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/31081-better-absolute-scanner-babs
AbsTVDB: http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/33006-absolute-order-tvdb-agent

In both cases, see the top post. I've updated them there if I've updated them (makes life easier for me and everyone else). Plex's base TV scanner and TVDB agent code has been stable since I modified them to create the absolute order versions.

Hope that helps.

I finally got around to trying this out…so I downloaded those versions of BABS and AbsTVDB and I upgraded to Plex Server v0.9.6.8. Now in this latest version, BABS doesn’t seem to show up (I have it in ~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Scanners/Series). However, I right-clicked on Naruto and told it to match using AbsTVDB. After that Naruto had the wrong art and summary for the first seven episodes but after that they were all correct. So it seems very close to working for me now!

actually it looks like BABS shows up in “Edit Section” but it no longer shows up in “Metadata Agent Settings”. I tried enabling BABS and Abs for the whole section but I’m still getting it where the first seven Naruto get shown as some different show and then the rest are all correct.

Haven't pulled 9.6.8 yet. I just got 9.6.7 last week, so I'll probably wait another week to make sure nothing "exciting" shakes out in the Linux forum. :)

So, to confirm, you're getting metadata for episode 100, and it seems to be the correct metadata. Is that right?

You also have incorrect metadata for episodes 1-7. Is that correct?
If so, what are the filenames of these episodes? There could be something hinky about the names.

And if I have it incorrect, help me understand.

Thanks.
