Thanks
I seem to have a problem with this scanner. Some of my anime does not show up, and when it does its not the full media that I downloaded.
I don’t have a custom scanner log thats current, Nor do I have a “skipped files” log. It really makes me wonder.
Just to name 2 series for example, Dragonball Z only season 1 and 8 show up, and for Dragonball Super only the first 3 seasons show up, Even though I have all the current seasons for Dragonball Super and the full seasons of Dragonball Z.
I’m on Windows 7 64Bit.
The ASS scanner is no longer working for me. The most recent log I have for it is nearly a month old now. It appears that the scanner is no longer working and I have been unable to find a solution to the error it generates. Here is the error found within my plex media scanner log.
[7392] ERROR - No module in VideoFiles
[7392] ERROR - Error scanning directory .
[7392] ERROR - No module in Absolute Series Scanner
Here are the log files:
Please check the scanner file source and size for corruption happened once before…
If it worked then stopped we had 3 reports on windows and was missing runtimes following plex update. Source without ‘from xxx inport etree’ in code was not affected. Run-time link is in readme…
Thanks for the quick reply.
If you are referring to “Absolute Series Scanner.py” as the source then it should not be corrupt, I just downloaded the most up to date version from you. I have a more recent version of the C++ runtime that is in the readme if your thinking its the error.
It should not but the error leave me nothing to go on…
Hold on, more recent? You need the exact year because each version of visual basic is unique…
did it generate the pyc file? Try going back in the py file to yhe version mentionned above without from ccc import etree
I just deleted the scanner file and downloaded a new one, again, but it seems to be working this time. I think scanner became corrupted somehow.
On a different note the log I uploaded for the ASS says to notify you ASAP for some error which happens a couple of times.
:25:47 Warning - show: ‘’, s2015e001-001, file: ‘L:\Anime[HorribleSubs] Gintama Jump Special Anime Festa 2015 - 01 [1080p].mkv’ has show empty, report logs to dev ASAP
2016-07-06 22:25:47 “” s2015e001 “[HorribleSubs] Gintama Jump Special Anime Festa 2015 - 01 [1080p].mkv” “4” “01”
Thanks for your help.
Second time it happens. Can you attach the deleted scanner gile of possible?
for the file it is in root, and tesr is taken as season therefore it skips regex tgen cannot guess serie name…
I don’t know what file you are referring to as the deleted scanner file, but it does appear that it has issues finding the names for movies and some shows that aren’t labeled correctly. Can I make Plex create a recently added anime section like I have for tv and movies?
Anime will be a movie or serie library. That question is nonsensical…
‘I just deleted the scanner file’ => that one
How can the scanner know if it is the same serie if the names are on root and misnamed? It may only recognise ‘title s01e01.ext’ that way more or less. If i did otherwise the library would be full of wrong duplicate series.
File on root don’t follow plex naming convention anyway…
I have already permanently wiped the bad scanner file, sorry. In plex it used to give me a recently added anime section on the home page just like it does for tv and movies, but it no longer longer shows up. I’ll rename the files it has trouble with so it can find them correctly. Thanks for your help.

He probably has a newer version of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86). The download you link in the readme is an older version and if you happen to have a newer version (in my case 10.0.40219) already installed, then the downloaded version will error out.
I just want to make it known that 2 anime series do not come up on my Plex, And yes I am using HAMA and this scanner.
The 2 series are, Taimadou Gakuen 35 Shiken Shoutai and Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai.
These are my Settings for the Scanner and HAMA.
“These are my Settings for the Scanner and HAMA.”
=> No, these are your settings for HAMA. You agent settings screenshots is irrelevant for scanner issues
The scanner readme (link is in my signature or https://github.com/ZeroQI/Absolute-Series-Scanner/blob/master/README.md) states:
If you have these or similar symptoms (or others):
nothing is scanned
episodes are missing
Series are missing
library doesn’t add new content (after scanner update) then most likelly the scanner is crashing and revert any changed to the library
Include the following logs (in any case, specify if file not present):
[…]/Plex Media Server/Logs/Plex Media Scanner.log (scanner crash info)
[…]/Plex Media Server/Logs/Plex Media Scanner (custom ASS).log (episodes info)
[…]/Plex Media Server/Logs/Plex Media Scanner (custom ASS) filelist.log (library file list)
What should i have written in the readme for you to include this on the first post ?
I basically cannot reproduce anything and most likelly you upgraded plex under windows and have a dll error in Plex Media Scanner.log and cannot help you more than the post i did on that matter (some of which on hama thread possibly)…
Sorry for not providing enough info, It was my mistake.
I used Filebot to rename my anime, and for every anime so far it has worked with the exceptions of these two anime.
As for the ASS logs, there are none that are current. The last logs that I have from ASS are from 8/7/16, other than that ASS never generated new logs.
Here are the logs needed that are mentioned.
Taimadou Gakuen 35 Shiken Shoutai and Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai are both in file “Plex Media Scanner (custom ASS) - Anime 1”
If there’s no log generated anymore, so the scanner crash, hence library won’t change and add the serie and episodes…
There should be an error in “Plex Media Scanner.log” but you attached “Plex Media Server.log”…
Please attach “Plex Media Scanner.log”…
Alright, Here’s the correct log.
readme states “On windows install https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555 if you experience this error:”
and you have the very same error:
Aug 18, 2016 03:18:56.436 [12836] ERROR - Error in Python: Looking up module:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File “C:\Users\Tim\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Scanners\Series\Absolute Series Scanner.py”, line 9, in

ImportError: DLL load failed: The specified module could not be found.
can’t help you. install given runtime as an admin. if doesn’t help, revert to previous plex version to the one you installed around the 7.
I downloaded what you linked but It turned out that I had a newer version, but it was not the latest version. So I downloaded the latest version of what you linked and now everything is working again.
Thanks!
