@ZeroQI I changed my directory structure and now everything is scanning in without any issues. Also all the metadata pulled in using your plugin without problems using this directory structure. I cant explain why but here is my new structure for anyone else that runs into something similar.

I am trying to get the Absolute Series Scanner working on my Plex install (running on FreeNAS) but it doesn’t seem to work. It shows up as an option as a scanner in the library, however it doesn’t find new entries I add to the library and doesn’t add new episodes to shows.
I currently use MyAnimeListAgent with the default plex scanner but wanted to take advantage of the absolute series scanner for my episode numbering.
I don’t appear to have any logs in /var/db/plexdata/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Data
There isn’t even a com.plexapp.agents.hama directory.
The only log I am finding is the Plex Media Scanner.log. It shows:

This is listed under the “known issues” however it says “You bloody downloaded the web page and not the actual py file” however I double checked the RAW on github and my py file matches.
@sweetaction if you have the same code as the raw, then the code crashed due to an error in the code. i need the file list to reproduce your issue, as latest code doesn’t crash for me
it crashes definitely but cannot reproduce the issue.
I need your scanner code version and filelist for your library series.
Might be something specific for your os in one code part only, needing an explicit import in the code…
Any hints in the series scanner logs my scanner created in hama agent data folder?
Had to reinstall windows and thus my scanner. Seems a few of my anime aren’t showing now.
Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory
Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid
Full Metal Panic - Fumoffu
Cowboy Bebop
located on my external drive in the “Anime Series” Directory. Could be missing more just haven’t had time to reconcile.
I attached a few logs.
edit
NVM I fixed it. I just deleted the library and recreated it. For whatever reason that worked.
I’m using the TVDB as my main agent (b/c I like English titles), for whatever reason, the scanner wouldn’t pick up the Full Metal folders unless they were all considered seasons and placed in the same folder. That is how TVDB has it, but I thought the scanner would pick up the folders regardless.
Doesn’t bother me, I just remember having them as separate shows before.
ZeroQI I don’t see any other logs created other then what I uploaded. I am running in a FreeNAS jail. Is there anything else I can provide to help figure this out?
I have a weird bug. My scanner will not read the local “tvdb4.mapping” file.
It detects the file being in the folder, but it will not read the contents, I verified this by moving the file from the folder.
When the file is present, all episodes will end up in one season, but without the file the data is being pulled from the “tvdb4.mapping.xml” file from github.
found the following error in the logs, looks like it might have something to do with my personal mapping file:
Error opening tvdb4 mapping, Exception: ‘invalid literal for int() with base 10: ‘\xef\xbb\xbf01’’
Any ideas how I can fix this?
EDIT:
I have reacreated my mapping file, and it does seem to work now. I think I could have simply changed the extension of the .xml file, thus keeping some of the .xml’s properties in my mapping file… dumb mistake I overlooked. Added this to my post in case someone else comes across the same problem in the future.
@ZeroQl I have been using your Anime scanner for quite a while and it has been fantastic for managing my library of shows. Thank you very much for all the hard work.
I have recently noticed a problem where folders that I delete from my anime library remain in the list of available shows and I am unable to get rid of them. Scanning the folder and/or emptying trash has no effect. I have updated Plex server, the scanner, and Hama Bundle, also with no effect. If you can help me identify a solution I would greatly appreciate it.
I’m running Plex 1.13.9.5456-ecd600442 on the latest build of Windows 10. My scanner and Hama bundle were updated at the end of October.
Hello, I am new to Plex and Absolute Series Scanner / HAMA. I think I set it up correctly according to the documentation, but when trying to add a new library with anime TV series, nothing appears. The scanner appears in the drop-down menu when creating a new TV show library, so I believe it is installed correctly.
Basically one error repeating over and over again.
“U:\Serialy” is a mounted network folder.
I am really not sure where the problem is (bug in Python code, something wrong with that Token, my installation).
Plex version 1.13.9.5456 Absolute Series Scanner.py downloaded today
The thumbnails for the shows in question are not marked as missing. It’s not until I navigate to, and click on the individual episodes that there is a message that the media is missing. So it appears that the shows are indeed still in my library. I have a couple of dozen shows that I have erased so it’s becoming a bit of a mess.
@ZooM this character crashes the scanner, is it in the library or path name? https://www.charbase.com/00e1-unicode-latin-small-letter-a-with-acute @vulcan300 I am afraid it is Plex behaviour at this point. Check if the scanner is crashing, therefore not removing, i could correct the scanner but if not, it’s Plex that has an issuebut if
@ZeroQI Hello, this character is not in any path, folder name, or file name. However, it is in the name of the anime TV series library in Plex (when you add a Library and define whether it is Movies, TV series, etc. and then write its name).
Is this something you can fix, or is it Plex’s fault? Obviously, I could just rename the Library, but would like to resolve this correctly (if there is any bug involved).
I’m getting this on the latest version of plex pass, but works with no errors on 1.14.1.5488-1-01 any ideas?
