Accessing 2 Plex servers, 1 works, 1 fails

Server Version#: Server 1 : 1.23.4.4712 (DSM7) , Server 2 : 1.23.3.4707 (Unraid)
Player Version#: 8.19.4.26517 (Android)

Hi Guys,

I currently run 2 instances of Plex server in my home network.

One is my main on Unraid docker container, the other one runs on Synology DSM7.

The issue is related to access to Unraid PLEX server, when I’m not on my local network.

Even if from a network standpoint everything seems to be well configured, I’m not able to stream anything coming from what I call “Plex 2” (Unraid Plex container).

Here’s a diagram of how things are configured. Maybe I missed something…

Plex 1 is the one on Synology DSM7, Plex 2 is Unraid

When I look at the logs when trying to play on “Plex 2” I have an error

Here’s the log when I try to read movie from “Plex 2”

Looking at your diagram at your router 1 you are forwarding both 32400 and 32401 to plex however internal ports are always 32400. YOu might change Plex2 port to 32400.
(https://support.plex.tv/articles/200931138-troubleshooting-remote-access/) where it says:

Forward the Port in the Router

In order to forward a port for Plex Media Server, you’ll need three main pieces of information:

  1. WAN/External Port : Port 32400 (TCP) is default, but you can generally use any available port in the 20,000 to 50,000 range.
  2. LAN/Internal Port : This will always be 32400.
  3. IP Address : The local IP Address of the computer running the Plex Media Server. This is what you did above.

You’re right, it’s a mistake on my diagram, both Plex servers are listening on 32400, it’s only the external ports that are different

Plex 1 : 32400
Plex 2 : 32401
