Accidentally Erased My Server... What Now? Need Help

I upgraded my computer and reinstalled the Plex Media Server but it told me it couldn’t find my Server so I thought I’d just delete it and re-create it but I can’t figure out how. I can log into my account but there’s no server and I’m not sure how to create a new server. Can anyone help me figure out what to do?.. please!

i assume your media files are in tact and still there?
simply re-install plex media server and then re-add your libraries (folders) to whatever catagories you had before, if the media files are still there plex will find them if you add the folders to the topic (movies/tv…) and let it scan them. Also once you have the server installed using your existing user/pw it should show up on plex app for other devices as it used to, it can take several minutes to show on the plex app side as a valid server but should show immediately from your console or local browser inside your network.

THAT DID IT!

I re-downloaded the Plex Server and reinstalled it and it went and found all my media just like it did the first time. I’m going to have to go through all my movies and re-pick the posters again but I’m considering that a small price to pay to get my server back up and running. Also, my family members who I previously sent invites to can also find my server so we’re all back just like it was before my major goof-up.

Thanks again skraemertx for your sound advice. I couldn’t have done it without you.

Happy New Year!

Renee,
Here is a further tip that I do, I have an app called tinyMediaManager, http://www.tinymediamanager.org/ which allows me to keep secondary inventory/catalog of my movies/shows but it also downloads the images/art work and other details to the local folder for my movies/shows and in plex Agent settings has local media assets enabled, so if plex can’t find the movie artwork it will use my local assets it helps a lot to keep copy of images and such. you may want to get the app and add your catalog to this to get local copies of assets as backup copy.
