when clicking on an actor from a movie or TV show info page in any Plex client or UI typically the first section shown below their image and bio is “Movies & Shows in Media Libraries” which shows any content within the Plex server they are in. I noticed recently that this fails for Robin Williams. He might not be the only one, but he is the one I’ve noticed in my content that it does not work for. Typically if I click on him the “Movies & Shows in Media Libraries” section is missing, then if I click back and click into his page again it will sometimes appear but only show the title I clicked in from.
It seems odd because any other actor I’ve clicked on in the Windows desktop client or from the web UI regularly shows all content on my server that they are in.
I’ve had this type of things with specific actors happen occasionally and rebooting the server or client device sometimes clears it up (if it’s a Roku pull the power to fully clear the cache).
Also refreshing metadata or manually running a scan can help too. The actor data doesn’t really update completely with the maintenance scans and a manual scan sometimes seems to help kick in missing data or references (I usually do this when I start seeing actor images are missing though that’s been less of a problem recently so maybe they’ve improved).
You might also try the troubleshooting section under settings and run the Clean Bundles and Optimize Database.
Lastly you might give the DBRepair tool a try: https://github.com/ChuckPa/DBRepair in case it’s related to some errors in the DB and this tool can often help clean those up a bit.
Those are just things you can try for now as suggestions. You might also grab a set of your server logs after running a library refresh and that might help folks help track things down. https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/
