Now that Google has decided to drop their free tier on Google Photos, thousands of users will be looking for alternative solutions by end of May 2021. If you could add features like facial recognition and support for geo tagging, photo albums (logical subsets of the library) and sharing of those albums, that should be able to attract more Plex Pass users.
Feature inspiration could come from Google Photos, Momentum 2 on Kickstarter, Synology Moments etc.
Plex already has support for geotags, although it currently has a pretty serious bug.
Photo Playlists serve the purpose of albums, and they can be shared.
There is already a feature request for facial recognition. Rather than splitting votes over multiple threads, it’s best to add your vote to that one.
