Add support for Samsung 2015 Tizen TVs

+1
I have to say I’m surprised and disappointed to hear Plex’s attitude in this issue. To lean on a single, external developer with excuse to disrupt current user base just ins’t a valid argument and quite frankly seems more based on convenience than reason. Everyone agrees Orca has done a great job but the app is showing signs of being a one man band without support from Plex core development. It has lately been unstable, has the well known remote control issues and does not scale at all to large screens (mine is 65" and it looks smeared and pixelated).
I looked through the comments in the Samsung app forum and this does not seem like a serious and professional way of supporting your customers. The developer threatening to quit, quarrels with Samsung, pleads to retain customers form posting on Facebook, etc, it just doesn’t seem sustainable.
Like most of the people in this thread I’m a Plex Pass customer. I bought a premium TV with the latest OS just to be able to get optimal versions of apps, I don’t think we as customers should have to be in a situation where we have to beg for an official app just because our model year happened to be 2015.

I also encourage everyone with a Samsung 2015 to contact them and ask why this hasn’t happened:

After several rounds with support trying to avoid the topic I have requested a statement from their management regarding the status of the update. i won’t stop pestering them until i get it. I don’t think they will do it (unless more of you join in) but at least they will have to answer to if they are comfortable breaking promises given their customers.

+1 for the official Plex app on 2015 Samsung TVs. Lifetime member.

Come on guys, it’s mid 2017 already and we still don’t have support for this?

+1 for official app

I “fixed” the issue by buying an Apple TV.

Has there been any further movement on this yet? As good as the Plex application that @Orca has written is, it would be lovely to get consistency across all my devices

Unfortunately, i don’t think there are any news, on this…

Hi Guys,
I have been around with as well and got an answer from PLEX blaming Samsung on multiple fronts. So I escalated within Samsung and they basically said the following.
PLEX have never submitted an app for the J series (2015).
Samsung are more then willing to help PLEX and I have a name of a manager to work with.
So far no message to PLEX dev or management has even had the courtesy of a response yet. I am now looking at media server alternates.

There was a guy working on 3rd party app and he’s abandoning the project due to health issues.
I “solved” the issue for myself by buying an Apple TV.

I did the same thing, Apple TV works well for me with my iPhones. DirectTV Now is giving away free apple TVs for buying 3 months prepaid of their streaming tv, which I also like and recommend https://www.directvnow.com/appletv

Yes, he did a great job and now has had to stop due to health issues. Would be great if PLEX stepped up and carried on the work he did or allowed the TIZEN app to be deploued on J series at least.
