Already looking into switching to Jellyfin. This is a horrible move by Plex. Devs, you should really reconsider removing this feature. You can’t possibly be this oblivious to your users’ needs.
Senior Front-End developer here, you never should upgrade your UI at the cost of features, you will lose a lot of clients. I was thinking on buying Lifetime Plex Pass but after all this and other kinda ■■■■■■ moves from Plex I probably won’t and search for an alternative to Plex.
Watch together is one of the main features I use because my friends Watch the movies on PC so this way I can watch it in my TV and be synced with them.
Not going to upgrade to plex experience until they add watch together if they add it at all. I spent alot of time setting up my plex server so I’m reluctant to switch to a different app but I will stop using live channels, which means diminished revenues from ads . With how much a Plex Pass cost, this is such a disapointment.
Watch Together is a hugely important part of my plex experience
I would keep watch together and forgo the new plex experience entirely if it was one or the other
I will be cancelling my plex pass subscription once I am no longer able to use watch together.
Been using watch together feature since 2021 and have fallen in love with it. I have a long distance relationship and this has made it easy for us to spend time together during the week.
I really hope you guys will find a way to implement watch together and until then I will try to skip updating my plex in the hope I can keep using it indefinitely.
Don’t they dare to put it behind the paywall. It’s like they don’t know when corporations do that all the users will just migrate to an open source alternative. Always.
Awful, shortsighted decision. My fiancee and I depend on Watch Together when she’s out of the country.
This is a really good way to get me to never use any of your services again, though you’ve got my lifetime pass money already so you likely don’t care.
They better keep this feature, use it every week with friends.
I use Plex watch together multiple times a week with friends and family. If it goes away… we would unfortunately have to find an alternative platform.
Action:
Plex chooses to end Watch Together feature
Reaction:
I choose to cancel my paid subscription, and move away from Plex.
Plex without Watch Together is only half the experience.
Bring it back!
I use Watch Together every week, please dont remove it.
I’m literally going to cancel my sub and stop using Plex if they take away this feature.
Repeat after me. “Plex is not removing this feature from already-existing clients. They’re just not including it in the new clients. I’m free to continue using the existing clients.”

We don’t know that the existing app is going to be replaced. It’s an assumption at this point.
And, for what it’s worth, you can turn off automatic app updating on Apple TV. Settings → Apps → Automatically Update Apps → Off.
All I’m saying is that nothing is being removed. Nothing is being taken away. Lack of inclusion in the new thing is not removal from the old thing. But subtlety is lost on many folks (not referring to you).
The reason for the “new experience” UI is so Plex doesn’t have to actually develop and support all the app platforms with individual native apps. They don’t get that benefit if they continue to offer the old apps too. They may claim they are not getting rid of it now, but their tune will change down the line, and you can expect the response to any reported problems to be “you will want to move to the new product”.
I have first-hand experience in this type of corporate half-truths courtesy of iX Systems (maker of TrueNAS).
I’m not suggesting anything else. And I agree that the Watch Together feature seems to be popular enough to move to the new app. But it has been suggested, repeatedly, that the feature is being removed from the existing apps, which is not the case.
This feature suggestion thread needs to get back on-track with comments supporting the inclusion of Watch Together in the new apps. And dump the Chicken Little statements about removal from the existing apps. There’s a different thread for that.
Also, based on some comments in this thread, I really believe that some folks think this feature is being turned off in existing apps. It’s not.
