Adding a second media server

I am trying to add a second media server to my account and having issues. This question has been asked multiple times but I am unable to find an answer that works. When I brows to the localIP:32400/web I get a log in prompt. some post say you can get around the login by click a what is this link, that link seems to have been removed in the new versions plex. Once I login it connects to the other server I already have on my account.

Anyone have any ideas?

You simply install PMS on another computer, then log into your Plex account via a browser and claim that server to your account. After that, when you open up a Plex player you can select which server you want to use.

Thanks for the reply. I have installed PMS on another computer and have logged into my plea account via a browser but I don’t see where to “claim” the server. can you tell me where this option is?

Also FYI I have been using chrome and have cleared all browser history.

Both computers are on the same network? No issues pinging or accessing the new Plex server computer from another computer?

My laptop that I am browsing from and both PMS are all on the same network and no issues accessing any of the devices/PMS

And you logged into the second PMS with the same Plex admin user?

When you open Plex web and go to Settings -> Devices, you do not see both PMS?

yep logged in with the same plex admin user at the IP of the new plex server however I only see the old PMS listed in devices.

Just to make sure, you signed in to the new server this way?

If you will make both servers accessible remotely, experience advises to consider static port forwarding with each server on a different external port forwarding to the respective server (at a static internal IP address) and using ‘manually specify port’ in Settings - Server - Remote Access to keep the port locked. e.g. Server 1: 32400 -> 32400 and Server 2: 32401 -> 32400

My new PMS is running on an ubuntu server so I can’t brows to it on box via localhost or 127.0.0.1 however I can guarantee that I am browsing to the IP address of the ubuntu server.

Then you must access it via a SSH tunnel to complete the setup.

If SSH not already installed & enabled, you’ll have to work that out locally.

To access the server, as if on the console (127.0.0.1), use this procedure https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200288586-Installation

Scroll down to On a different network and use the local LAN address of the host.

Hey knowram - is it possible to do this using the NVIDIA Shield? I have an infuriating scenario where I had a server running with a 4TB attached USB drive, needed to migrate to a 12TB NAS to which the Shield is now attached, but now the server will not run unless the 4TB is attached nor can I see anyway on the Shield app or through web-access of creating a new server from which to configure my 12TB NAS media. Any ideas?
