Adding an dedicated display adapter

Server Version#: 1.83.1.4061-d3f45728
Player Version#:

I have been running my Plex Media server on a small Lenovo ThinCenter M73. My content is stored and accessed from an external USB drive. The PC has 12GB of ram and an Intel(R) Core™ i5-4570T CPU @ 2.90GHz. I finally decided to consolidate a half dozen bare metal PC’s to an HP ProLiant ML350P Gen 8 with plenty of storage and 256GB of ram.

The only real use for my Plex Media Server is to host Family photos and the occasional movie or television series that my children as me to provide. On occasion they have run into Playback and transcoding errors.

I came across a used Nvidia Quadro K5000 display adapter and was hoping to get your thoughts on that.

Am I correct is saying that in order to use this or any display adapter that I choose that I would require an active Plex Pass subscription. Your time and input will be greatly appreciated.

If you look at Nvidia’s published Encode / Decode matrix,

regrettably, you’ll find the K5000 is too old for Decoding/Encoding support.

Yes.
