I would appreciate it if someone would help me. I would really like step-by-step procedures on how to get a family member or friend able to connect to my Plex system so that they can enjoy my family and friends photos. To start with, need to work on getting the family on first. What steps do I need to take to get say a sister on my Plex? She lives in a different city. She is on the internet and she does have 1 or more email addresses. In the Users & Sharing tab, I would like to allow here in to visit several folders of photos, but everything and I know that I can do this by selecting which folders she should be a able to see. But, what does it require from her standpoint. I don’t want to allow her as a “home user” and I would only like here to see her OWN login prompt. Is She added added as a Friend? I just don’t know how to do this and it seems confusing. She must not be able to act or do things that might change anything, though at some point, I might want her to be able add photos, but that is a secondary plan. Please someone help me.

If you can lead her through the process (for instance by remote control session to her computer with software like e.g. TeamViewer),
this is the safest procedure and order:
- Let her create her own plex.tv account, by going to plex.tv and “Sign Up”
- Once the account has been set up and is verified working, invite her using the same email address she has used to create her plex.tv account
- you can then send her to this URL https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/users-sharing and let her “accept” your invitation
The above link from @beckfield already does explain all the ways to ensure that you only share the media you want to share with her.
