I have never had a problem using Plex and Windows 7, except for the occasional subtitles snafu. I partitioned my hard drive and installed Windows 10. I successfully added all of my movies but when it came to adding tv shows it is a problem. After adding 32 shows, the previously added folders do not show up when adding another folder. It kicks it back to “zero shows”. Not that is taken out the shows, if I don’t try to add another show, the previous shows are still there. It’s just at a particular point in the process, it will no longer show the previously added folders.I’ve tried three times to do this and it does not work after a certain number of shows have been added. Does anyone have any idea what this problem is? I hope I have made some sense about this problem. Let me know, thanks, BBJones.
Are you adding each tv show individually to your library?
If so, that doesn’t work.
Only add the parent folder of your tv shows folders.
/TV Shows <-- only add this folder
/Grey's Anatomy
/Season 01
Grey's Anatomy - s01e01.avi
Grey's Anatomy - s01e02 - The First Cut is the Deepest.avi
Grey's Anatomy - s01e03.mp4
/Season 02
Grey's Anatomy - s02e01.avi
Grey's Anatomy - s02e02.mkv
Grey's Anatomy - s02e03.m4v
I have folders of Netflix, Showtime etc with subfolders, “Homeland” “Better Call Saul” etc and they have subfolders, ie; Season one etc. It is exactly like when I add on Windows 7 but on 10 something is screwy. I add the “Amazon” folder and the 4 shows I have in that folder pop up and I hit save the changes.
Then you only add those Netflix, Showtime etc folders and not the individual shows contained within those.
Nope, here’s what I do: Go to TV Shows, click the edit, click the add folders, I navigate to a folder that contains subfolders, ie; European contains Borgen, Suburra, Gomorra, it shows those subfolders and click the save the changes. But then I get to 30 or more and it will no longer show that those shows have been added, it’s like it sees nothing.
Then you must not add more than 30 folders. Reduce those.
Why? I have around 100 folders added to my Windows 7 server.
I have some doubts about that.
Are you sure you didn’t distribute those 100 folders over several libraries?
I have 3115 files, 347 folders 1.55tb in the TV shows folder. So, no, that is one library. I have another three libraries with aroung 1.6tb distributed among those three but TV shows? I have about a hundred.
That is not exactly what I asked.
Could you provide me as an example with the full path of one of your tv show episodes?
When you say path, is this what you mean? H:\Amazon\The Marvelous Mrs Maisel\Season 2\And then it’s S02E whatever
Yes, that’s what I meant.
You are supposed to only add H:\Amazon to the tv show library. Not anything below that folder level.
That’s what I do, when I add folders, If I click on any Main Folder, ie’ Amazon HBO whatever, the subfolders will show up, at that point I click save changes down at the bottom. But after thirty or so shows, being put into the TV Shows library, they suddenly don’t show up anymore when you try to add to it.
Is it “after adding 30 shows” or is it “after adding 30 folders” when the issues arise?
The first time I did this, I thought perhaps I had hit a wrong button or something. So, second time it happened, I went hmmmmm. Third time, I counted how many shows I had added. It was 32. Having said that, the first time, I was all the way down to the Showtime folder and had approximately 75 shows in the TV library. Perhaps it’s a random number. Sorry I wasn’t more thoughtful in my explanation. Also, besides the already added shows not showing up, under Edit TV shows, there are three options, General, Add folders and Advanced. The Advanced is greyed out when this happens.
So how many folders do you have on the level of Amazon, Netflix etc ?
I have 18 main folders. Amazon, AMC, HBO etc. 87 subfolders, therefore 87 shows. There are around 330 something subfolders containing all the seasons with all the episodes of those seasons.
OK. Then only these 18 main folders need to be added to the library.
Make sure you only add them while Plex is not doing anything else, like updating libraries or fetching metadata etc.
I wait until all the pics have settled on the show. I find it curious that the “Advanced” option is greyed out. And the “Activity” button up top, stops.
Could you please add a screenshot? The Advanced option of what?
