I am looking to buy a pair of bluetooth headphones for use during nighttime when family is sleeping!
I am looking at Sony WH-1000XM3 or bose qc 35 and was wondering if plex will still direct play if i switch over to that audio? or how will it work? I guess my LG tv will connect to them with bluetooth or is there any other way? As i only play 4k HDR material any transcodes would be very bad so i am wondering if anyone has any experience of this. My Current setup is below where
Shield → Soundbar → LG TV
LG Oled 65 C1
Sony Sony HT-ST5000 capable of dts:X and atmos
Nvidia shield pro
Assuming you connect your headphones to the TV or your receiver, Plex should not even notice the change. From Plex’ point of view, it keeps streaming to the targeted client with the available audio.
ah okay i mean i dont really have a receiver and not sure the mechanics behind it all since im assuming maybe the soundbar is doing the audio decoding (as an receiver) but worried that it will just passthrough somehow to the tv if i select bluetooth audio on the tv
i guess i have to just test it live maybe but was wondering if anyone had any experience of this
Dolby Vision works in the above setup (TV shows Dobly Vision input). However then I connect bluetooth headphones (Sony WH-1000XM3) either to TV or to Shield the video drops from DolbyVision down to HDR10. Sound is fine (I think Plex transcodes on the fly). But the drop from DV to HDR10 is very annoying and I don’t have an explanation for that.
Wish I knew a solution how to preserve Dobly Vision while using the headphones.
