Adding large Music collection and using embedded metadata

Over the past 20 years I have meticulously cataloged my music collection. I have uniform metadata tags for all of my music as well as the highest quality album art I can find and I want to take the plunge and add it all the plex. With that being said since I am confident my music is properly tagged I would like plex to fully use my embedded metadata including album artwork.

I plan on copying a couple dozen artists to run a test on plex to see how it handles everything. What settings do I need to make sure are set properly so plex will in fact use all of my embedded metadata including album art?

If I have to use plex for metadata I will, however, I would absolutely want plex to use my embedded album art then. Is there an option to use only embedded album artwork?

I’ve had great success with Plex configured to use embedded metadata. I wrote the following to help out with the process:
[HowTo] Configure Plex to use embedded metadata (music)

Keep in mind that Plex doesn’t use all embedded tags. Most notably, it does not support the Composer tag, which is essential for properly-tagged classical music. The workaround is to use the Composer as Album Artist.

This feature request lists a large part of what tags are used, which tags are partially supported, and tags that I hope Plex will add support for.
