I have a DS1815 Synology NAS and have installed lattest PLEX server. I have a Plex Pass subscription. When I start the PLEX server I do not see my Synology NAS and there is no Library tab to allow adding local media to PLEX. Can someone please point me to a thread that will guide me through how to install and run PLEX on this NAS? I had it installed a few years ago but system went into storage and as I was not able to set it up until recently and it seems the system is significantly different than I recall.
Make sure to complete the setup by accessing your newly installed server through its local IP address from within your local network (http://[Syno IP address]:32400/web). Once you’ve named the server and linked it to your account you’ll also see it in your other apps.
Thanks for the fast reply. I type the IP address and PLEX started up and recognized my account but there wasn’t any option to ‘name the server’ or point the software to the folders on my NAS. This app is certainly a lot different (convoluted) than the last time I used it!
Thanks tom80H, I deleted PLEX folder from my NAS and did a reinstall and reconnected media files. Now I can see music, photos, and video files from my PC when I connect to the PLEX on my NAS via the LAN. Music plays and all seems good. When I installed PLEX on my 4K firestick and linked to my PLEX account I can see all these data on my Samsung TV but alas no sound! Been scouring the web to see what to do. I did uninstall PLEX on Firestick and reinstall with no joy. Do you know if there is a parameter on the Synology side I need to change to allow the Firestick to access audio too?
Tom, please disregard last post. I shut the Amazon thing down and after cycling power everything appears to work. Again, many thanks for the guiding hand to get PLEX back on my NAS.
