Hi

I made a new install of the media server on my NAS and tried to add my nas to the media server in Plex. However I can NOT find where to do it. I looked under the settings option but cant find the library manage link (left hand menu) to add a new server. A lot has changed when I did it last so my question is, where can I add my own library to plex media server?

Do you want to run that new PMS install on the Syno or do you want to use the Syno as storage for an existing PMS?

For the first:

Make sure to access the newly installed PMS locally on your NAS, using http://[Syno IP address]:32400/web from within the same subnet/network. Then finish the setup and link the PMS to your account. This way, its libraries will be available in your Plex apps.

For the second:

Depending on where your server is hosted, pick a file sharing protocol and enable that in the sharing settings of your Syno’s DSM web interface. Mount the Syno share on the PMS host machine and point PMS libraries to a library folder on that share.

1st. I did that and now want to add my files to a new library on the PMS. But I can NOT find where I can add them!

@OttoKerner unfortunatly I have NO clue what the **** you are posting about

I have followed the steps for the first answer and followed the installation steps.

Unfortunatly I am 100% stuck as I have NO clue how to add my library now!!!

Open Plex/Web (type http://NAS-IP-Address:32400 into your browser) and then go to Settings (Spanner icon top right of page).

Note: Make sure you replace NAS-IP-Address with the actual IP Address for your NAS.

In Settings, make sure you select the correct server if you have more than one, then go to the bottom left of the page and click on Libraries and then click on Add Library.

Select the type of library you want to add. Name it and select the language you want the library to use, then click on next.

Then click on the Browse For Media Folder button and navigate to your library folder on the NAS.

Remember, that all of your folders will be found in volume1 on a Synology NAS. If you have more than one volume, then select the appropriate volume number first.

Once you have located and selected the folder for the library, click on the Advanced tab and adjust the settings there as needed. Then click on the Add Library button.

You should now have a new library in Plex.

Go to the Home page in Plex/Web and click on the More > button (bottom of the flyout menu, left of page) and pin your new library to the Home page.

Now you should see the new library in the flyout menu by moving your mouse all the way to the left of the page.

You may show/hide the flyout menu by clicking on the hamburger icon (3 horizontal lines, top left of page).

Seems like I partially fix the issue by fully uninstalling the server from my NAS and reinstalling it. The top 2 options with partially uninstalling the PMS only makes the problems get worse!

HOWEVER I now have an issue with claiming the NAS server. As from what I have seen this is a connection issue however I have not been able to solve it (yet)

Any suggestions?

Finaly solved the issue as I got a new ISP and had to change the new DNS settings to the google ones (ie 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) which seems to solve the claim issue and now I can rebuild my new PMS again!

These are standard steps for Plex and I do these every new install anyway. (have had Plex more then 5 years now!)
