Adding media from DS218+ What am I doing wrong?

Server Version#: 1.16.5.1552-8e8d0c785
Player Version#:

I have a new Synology DS218+; I just added my media libraries to it yesterday. I named the server “homeflix” and copied two folders, named “Movies” and “TV Shows” to the preexisting “video” volume.

Plex successfully found the homeflix server. I went through the steps to add a library by
Add Library>Library Type>Movies
and hit Browse for Media Folder. Here’s where I may be fumbling. I get a dialog box showing the first pic below; If I select volume1, near the bottom on the right is a “video” folder, which I’d presumed was the volume with the media folders/files I’d copied over. But if I select that video folder, this is all I see:

It doesn’t display the contents of video or display video as the selected folder on the left.

In case that’s how it’s supposed to be, I hit Add, then Add Library, I get the briefest message that the library is being processed, then nothing: “There are no items in this library.”

The media folders are an EXACT copy of a local drive. If I run Plex from my Mac with the external local drive as the media library source it works perfectly (my naming and organization is correct). I used Carbon Copy Cloner to make an exact copy of it on the NAS videos volume, so the folder/file names are correct.

What am I missing?

Do not use the existing Video folder. It can cause problems.

See #6 in Synology FAQ.

Also, make sure the user Plex has Read access to the media folder (/movies, /tv, etc). If you’re recording TV, Plex will need read/write access to the appropriate folder.

Edit: Re-read and noticed you’re moving from an existing PMS, so info below most likely redundant.

Make sure you are organizing and naming your media correctly. Note that Plex is especially picky with TV shows. Best to follow the guidelines.

Media Organization

Make sure you media is in a supported format. Plex does not support disc images such as ISO.

That did it, thanks!
