Not able to add files to my library

Hi,
I have a Synology NAS drive holding all my media. I am using DS Video which is great for organizing and viewing my movies however there is sadly no app on my LG tv for this. Plex is there so thought I would give this a try. I have installed the media server software onto my NAS and everything seems to work fine however when I come to add folders to a created movie or TV library I can’t select the folder they are in. I can only select /volume1/video folder. I have separated the films and TV into separate folders and each film/series is separated again into their own folders. I have tried to manually enter /volume1/video/Films but when it scans it finds no files at all.

Can someone please tell me if there’s something I can do to make this work.

Thanks

MIke

As I learned from another thread recently, Plex has no permission to read the media files in /volume1/video. So I would suggest creating a new mount point (e.g. /volume1/plex/) and give plex full permissions to that respective mount. You can then move your files there for plex to access them.

There is an FAQ for Synology that covers everything, here it’s Q5:

Hi Guys, thanks for this. In the end it was something so simple as I hadn’t assigned permission for the plex user to read the video folder.
Once I had given it permission it worked fine.

Oops, didn’t know that /volume1/plex exists… I just “made it up” as possibly suitable folder. Sorry, my bad
