Adding Multiple Shows to Server

Server Version#:1.14.1.5488. Shield version 7.2.2
Hello,

I recently decided to move my existing server from my PC to a spare Shield I had. My PC server runs just fine, but I was tired of having my PC on all the time and thought the Shield would be a better option on hydro usage.
I have 281 complete TV shows with multiple seasons in each. I tried adding 10 at a time to the library to make sure I could choose covers and edit any metadata as I added each show. At about 270 shows, the metadata would stop loading for every show. The show appears on the web interface but there is no metadata attached to it. There is only a title. When I try and match it, nothing comes up. If I try and play an episode (on the Web app) it tells me that “Conversion failed. A required codec could not be found or failed to install” I can play the exact same episode on my other shield or tablet just fine though.

I have tried multiple ways of adding shows. All at once or one at a time. At about the 270-275 mark it seems to choke on getting the artwork and metadata. Tried factory resetting a million times and adding shows in different ways. The funny thing is that it is never the same show that doesn’t load correctly each time. If I load a show first it works , but the same show loaded last wont work. I also cannot load artwork manually, either by pointing to a local or via web address. Nothing works.

Does anyone have any insight to why this is happening? My PC server is still up and running without any issues at all. All my shows are stored on a 10TB WD portable on the USB. I have 4500 movies to add next but don’t want to waste any time doing that if I cant get proper artwork for some of them.

Thanks for any info you can provide,

Robert

I would start double-checking the names of the respective last bunch of files. On some platforms, bad names can throw the scanner/agent off track (at least it used to… so it’s worth a shot).

What model Shield? If the 16GB version you might be running into space limitations for storing metadata, thumbnails, temp space for transcoding, etc.

See Limitations When Running Plex Media Server on NVIDIA SHIELD

Check the size of the metadata on your PC. You’ll need at least that much space on the Shield if you’re going to move everything from Plex on your PC. If you’re short on space, look at adding an external drive to hold Plex’s data.

Where is the Plex Media Server data directory located?

I am using the 16GB model. I have a 128GB USB key set up as internal storage on the one USB port. The 2 10TB WD Drives are on the other port shared on an ANKER 4port USB 3.0 hub.

All my names are set up as Plex requires. Folder is Title of the show and files are Title of the show SXXEXX.
Though it can’t be the naming, as it is never the same show twice. It all depends on when I add it. If I add it first then it finds the metadata no problem, but last, it can’t find it.

Something else happened. I added another folder for another set of shows. None of these show any artwork and none are even matched. It is like the scraper is not even functioning at all.
