Hello everyone, I’m at wits end trying to figure out why suddenly my metadata isn’t loading for new files and half of my TV Shows. I’ve been using Plex on an Nvidia Shield for about a year and a half with no issues. It’s paired with an Synology DS1817+ that holds all the movies and TV shows. I name all of the files correctly and they all have had metadata in the past until I recently deleted and recreated my Plex Media Server on the Shield. All of my movies had metadata load except any new movies I add, and the first half of TV shows have metadata. I also can’t view my plex log files because I get a 500 Internal Server Error which is strange. I’ve removed the files and re added them with no luck. Emptied trash, optimized, refreshed metadata numerous times…I’m done and need the communities help!
I also recently made another Plex Media Server on an Intel NUC with the same files and all the metadata loaded no problem. So it’s something related to the NAS and Shield.
I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled PMS 3 times now and also reset the Nvidia Shield to stock twice. When adding files at the start everything is working fine and metadata loads perfectly. I can also access the log files at this point. Somewhere during this process metadata just randomly decides to stop loading and no matches can be found using any of the agents when I know metadata is normally found. When the metadata stops loading I can’t access my log files as it gives me a 500 Internal Server Error.
Is there a theoretical limit to how many files you can add to Plex? I have about 5TB of movies and 10TB of TV Shows in my collection.
Well, here I am with some more information. I set up a media server on my desktop computer and had no problems at all. All metadata loaded quickly and correctly. It’s obviously something with the Nvidia Shield. It’s almost like the Nvidia Shield starts off fine, but then eventually it gets overwhelmed and it starts to wig out. Metadata stops loading for all existing and new media, the debug log errors out with that 500 Internal Server Error. At this moment the shield is acting up so much its almost worth it in power bill costs to leave my power hungry computer on because it actually functions correctly.
That’s ancient. 1.14.1.5488 is the latest, so something’s causing your system not to update past the March 2017 version you’ve mentioned. I think that needs fixing first.
Thanks for the response! I updated the server version to Version 1.14.1.5488 (Don’t know why it was so old, I might of uninstalled updates and forgot to update?) and still getting the same issue. This time I managed to get the TV Shows and Movies fully updated with metadata but once I added my Music folder it all imploded and new stuff and half the music won’t get metadata.
My desktop and Shield both seem to finish scanning and adding metadata in about 20 minutes, I have about 20GB of non FLAC (if that matters). Sometimes the Shield doesn’t actually mess up adding music. Sometimes it happens adding TV Shows, sometimes the Movies folder. It’s completely random and I can’t consistently recreate it which is frustrating!
I’m using two shield’s and the same thing is happening to me. I have both updated and after the last Shield firmware update it broke PMS. it refreshed all of the metadata and mixed everything up. recently added is all in the wrong order and I have to go back and rename some titles because it reversed the changes I made to them. Some files are appearing as the exact names of the files now.
Also I have to constantly update the libraries because some shows and movies wont show up. After the update they will appear and then a day or so later I will have to update again.
I spent days fixing things like this ugh and now i have to do it all over again. Has anyone else had this issue when using the shield as plex media server?
