Adding new media files to existing libraries

Server Version#: Version 4.125.1

Thing is, I already created a few libraries containing different sorts of media like music, TV shows and films. I also created different libraries for different types of music formats for example, FLAC (say library 1), WAV (library 2) etc.

Can you tell me how I can add new music files to different libraries. In my case if I have 3 new albums in WAV format to add to library 2, what can I do to achieve this? I tried a couple of times thinking I did it right but unfortunately the existing libraries screwed up and I have to rebuild the music libraries again. I am yet to find the best and workable option.

The same question applies to adding new movies to existing libraries of different genres. Thanks.

You add new media to the exiting folders you added to the library setup.

If you added /TV SHows to the library that is the folder Plex looks at for that library you add new tv shows inside that folder. and hit the Scan for New files

if you your music library for WAV files is set up with /Volumes/Music/WAV then you should put the folders in that then scan for files. If you have a new Beatles album in WAV then it should be at /Volumes/Music/WAV/Beatles/AlbumName/Tack1.wav and so on. You don’t need to edit the library set up again because the library is already looking at /Volumes/Music/WAV/

Keep in mind that Plex cannot read embedded metadata from WAV files.
You will have to rely purely on folder structure and file names, and hope that this provides enough for Plex to make sense of all.

If the music you are adding is custom made and is not on musicbrainz.org, it can be very challenging without meta tags to achieve the right result.
