Adding or update Featurettes

This is a multi part question: I’ve noticed sometimes I’ll go to upgrade a movie and add the Featurettes (I always have them inside a folder - Movie Title (XXXX)\Featurettes) and the movie will update but Plex will not pick up the Featurettes folder or it’ll only pick up a few, then I have to do the stupid plex dance, move the folder, scan, clean bundles, delete and then rescan.

Sometimes even if I don’t update the movie and add just the Featurettes it won’t see them after a full library scan or again it’ll only scan a few Featurettes and then I’ll have to do the plex dance.

Lastly if a movie does have all the Featurettes then I add another one it doesn’t get picked up all the time.

So is really the only way to delete, scan, empty bundles, empty trash, replace and then scan the whole library every time?

Server Version#:1.21.1.3876

Yup, this is already have I have my library setup. I do have multiple paths currently in my library since I thought it had to do with the processing power of my precious server, built a new box and slowly transferring over files but this is still an issue.

All paths to the library are always directly to the root of the type:

Movies\
     Movie Title (YYYY)
Movies\
     Movie Title (YYYY)\
          Featurettes

TV\
    Show Title

You should only need to refresh metadata for the movie for it to show the newly-added extras.

To add to phillipsw,

  1. make sure the Local Media Assets agent is enabled. It it best to have it near the bottom else it can preempt TheTVDB and TMDB.
  2. Refresh All Metadata for the library section.

So only a refresh metadata is needed for Featurettes but a Scan Library Files is needed to update a movie file?

Correct.
