I use a Synology NAS as a media server for Plex. I have had some trouble with VOB subtitles, as they cause never ending buffering, so I just work around this by looking for srt subtitles before adding films to Plex. This works fine. However, I’ve got a couple of non-English language films that also have extras in this language (e.g. Parasite). For the movie itself, it’s no problem. I just add the srt subs and there we are. For the making of documentaries and interviews, I ripped the original VOB subtitles and converted them to srt’s. They’re in the folder on my NAS right there alongside the video files, but Plex can’t seem to find them.
So there’s the question: how do I add srt subtitles to extras on Plex? I can always work around this by using Handbrake to hardcode the srt subs to the video file and then re-upping them to the NAS, but that takes a long time and it has a tendency to make the video file a lot bigger, so if I can avoid it, I’d like to. Learning Korean is another option, but, you know…
