I’ve just started using Plex for movies, and my general approach is to rip everything (including extras) to MP4 files with separate SRT files for the subtitles. In this example, I’ve ripped Django, Kill… If You Live, Shoot! (1967) along with an “interviews” file called Django, Tell!
The interviews have their own subtitles because several interviews are in Italian. Here’s how the files looked:
And yet, no subtitles are selectable when watching the interview…
Strangely, the subtitles show up for the movie (and will display if selected!) even though the naming does not match the movie:
I’ve tried dropping the interview into the optional “Interviews” folder structure, but the results were the same:
It would seem that Plex doesn’t recognize local subtitles for extras, but it’s especially strange that the subtitle file showed up for the movie. So Plex is definitely seeing it, but it’s applying it to the wrong place.
Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug?
