Maybe I’m missing something, but…
I’ve got a movie which is in English (April and the Extraordinary World). There’s also a “Making-Of” documentary which is only in French (The Origin of the Extraordinary World). I have English subtitles available for the Making-Of film.
Following the instructions for Local Trailers and Extras and Adding Local Subtitles to your Media, I tried setting up the files like this:
- April and the Extraordinary World\April and the Extraordinary World.m4v
- April and the Extraordinary World\The Origin of the Extraordinary World-featurette.m4v
- April and the Extraordinary World\The Origin of the Extraordinary World-featurette.en.srt
Plex doesn’t see the subtitles available when I try to play The Origin Of….
I have also tried this approach:
- April and the Extraordinary World\April and the Extraordinary World.m4v
- Movie\Featurettes\The Origin of the Extraordinary World.m4v
- Movie\Featurettes\The Origin of the Extraordinary World.en.srt
That also doesn’t work. Am I missing something, or did the Plex team not consider that subtitles may be needed for bonus content? I’ll have to regretfully burn the subtitles into the documentary if Plex can’t handle this natively.
PS - To rule out fumble-fingers, I have verified using cut-and-paste that the SRT file base name is exactly the same as the m4v file to which it belongs.
