Adjusted photos but changes don't show in PMS

I adjusted some settings on my photos but the changes don’t show in PMS. I’ve tried Refreshing Metadata, Re-scan library and even re-added the library. I also deleted any cookies in my Browser (Safari).

As A test, I adjusted one photo to be almost white, but there is no change to that image I view in PMS.

Anyone have any ideas why this wouldn’t update. This has me concerned since there are a few libraries I’d like to adjust. This appears to be the case when looking at my Phone too.

Your help appreciated.

Do the steps in this post help at all?

Thanks for that Dar.

Unfortunately following the move to root level, rescan, move back to library didn’t do anything. I am wondering if the fact that these are RAW images (DNG) has anything to do with it. I sure hope that this is something that can be solved. Also tried the other steps that Mike-ee did.

I have run some tests and came up with some interesting results. The first test was to duplicate the photo. So the duplicate had dog_copy.dng. I then rescanned the library and both the original and the copy showed up, but the copy did not reflect the changes either. I then wanted to see if this happens with JPG files.

I duplicated a jpeg file, altered the image copy to see if change shows up. The thumbnail in Plex did not update, but when I click for large view, the duplicated/altered image shows as expected. Not sure why the thumbnail didn’t update though.

So back to the .dng files. I decided to open and alter a dng file in Camera Raw in Adobe Bridge. I then RE-SAVED that file again as dng. So now I have the dog.dng (original) and dog_1.dng (new). Rescanned Plex, and both files show up, and the new file reflects the altered state!

What I ended up doing was to re-save all the DNG files as DNG files again. I then deleted the originals in Bridge, deleted the LibraryPlex. Re-scanned and all is well.

So the question is why files don’t update when edits are made to DNG files in Adobe Camera Raw? My guess there is some metadata that’s either not being generated by Adobe for Plex to read, or something like that.

If anyone else has anything to add or suggest, that would be great. It seems the only answer to this at least for DNG files is to re-save, which blows if you have hundreds of images.

FYI- I have the latest PMS 1.18.7.2438 running.

I seemed to have solved this issue by completely deleting library, optimize DB, empty trash and so on.

I then re added library. Took a while. Thousands of images. Now even when I edit photos, move things around, re-scanning updates all.
