Advertise as server - where has it gone?

On my iPod, the ‘advertise as server’ option seems to have disappeared. The ‘player’ option is there. Fully up to date with IOS and Plex app version.

On my Android tablet (v9, latest Plex app) And Android phone (v9.1) the ‘server’ option is there and turned on.

On my IOS phone, both Android devices are listed in the main menu but there is no content shown.

Similarly, on the Android devices, the other 2 devices are listed BUT they are shown as ‘Offline’.

Yes, all 3 devices are on the same network and all 3 can access my (remote) server.

So what’s going on? Ideas accepted gratefully.

TIA, Ian

I feel like I read somewhere that this capability was removed from iOS, I think because iOS changes made it harder to support, but I’m struggling to find it in the forums.

I might be confusing it with some other feature change, too.

Thanks @Volts. I’ve struggles to find anything in the forums or release notes too, but I can see now that it has gone from the IOS app’s documentation, so it seems you are right. Thanks.

But it’s still there in the Android app and documentation. Anyone else have the Android app with “Advertise as Server” working properly?

The android version is not working properly and has not been working properly for years. I posted this in 2017 and have been unsuccessful in attempts since then.

Hmmm, didn’t see your post when I searched but Android as a server to IOS was working for me through 2019 and much of 2020H1.

Anyone from @Plex listening???
