Anyone else having problems with Plex player on Nvidia Shield advertising as player. It’s been happening for a while always assumed it was a network set up thing, did a router reset etc and issue still persists. Any troubleshooting tips?
Yeah so just heard about it. Have the same problem nothing really helps. Reinstalled everything even Plex server. Nothing helps so far. What’s for me the most irritating none of my devices show up on http://server.local.ip.address:32400/clients
@anon18523487 so this is how Plex is gonna handle this? Just gonna be silent. At least say something like you will investigate. Alot of people offered to post logs or anything? Nothing?
Hi @anon18523487 have the developers at least been informed on how to replicate it? According to tests in happens for every new install or reinstall of the app. Not sure since which version this has been happening.
Is there a way to reliably replicate? As I said earlier, it doesn’t happen to everybody. I can usually cast to my Shield, though sometimes it doesn’t appear. It’s very random in my testing.
A clean install of any of the latest builds disables all remote controls. Have replicated it in every ATV in my home. I only have one left with remote control left. If you do a clean wipe and reinstall remote control disappears. Same for Fire TV as in the above post in the Fire TV thread. I can ping you in the thread, but we have all been able to replicate with any ATV instance that had remote control available.
Hmm. Just tried on my Shield (uninstall updates, restart Shield, update to latest app) and my phone still sees both the CC device and for Plex companion.
Did you completely uninstall the app, not just the updates? It has to be a clean install, not sure in my case I believe I did a reset, will have to lose my last ATV with companion to replicate and provide feedback.
As with any other Android TV system, the app can be uninstalled as a regular app, this problem isn’t just for the Shield. It affects Android and Fire TV apps on different hardware.
Yes for other Android devices, that’s try. I’ll give it a try on some later. But this specific thread started with the Shield. On there, the app can’t be totally uninstalled.
It can @anon18523487 I started this thread have a shield and have done it countless times, the screen grabs above are for the Shield. Anyway. Give it a go on an none Android device and let me know before I disable casting on my last Android TV device.
